Perhaps love has its own language. At least that is what Giselli Monteiro proved in Love Aaj Kal where she essayed the role of Harleen Kaur without knowing a word of any Indian language.

That Harleen had no dialogue in the film may have been to Giselli's advantage. But every gesture of a love-struck Harleen was portrayed extraordinarily by Giselli.
Brazilian top model Giselli Monteiro told Metrolife on how she fell in love with Harleen.
“I happened to hear the script and fell in love with the character. She had to bring forth so much of emotion and that was a challenge in itself,” Giselli gushes.
This tall, lanky, almost six foot model began her career in modelling on the international ramp when she was barely 17 years old.

Why did she head to India then? “A lot of people told me that this was one country that I just shouldn’t miss and that I looked a lot like an Indian. I found the people very warm and receptive. And soon I thought I should settle in here,” says Gisille.
Talking about her role in Love Aaj Kal, Giselli says she played out a typical Punjabi woman who lived in the interiors of the country.
“Today, women are more vocal when it comes to their emotions unlike women in the past. The past was largely a male dominated era but today women have found more freedom to express their feelings,” she says and adds, “I stepped into the shoes of a woman from an era gone by.”

Giselli has signed up for two more Hindi movies, “I can’t tell you too much about my roles. It’s all young and glamourous. I will be acting in a Red Chillies cinema with SRK and I am thrilled about it,” she says.
She confesses that everything about India excites her. The food, the people and of course she feels that Bollywood is where she belongs. But is it tough for a newbie to make a mark?
“It’s all about being in the right place at the right time and loads of luck. Also there’s no compromise on hard work. And if you keep at it then success is yours,” she sums up.
