The city may still have a chance to host the National Exhibition of Art by the Lalitkala Akademi (LKA).

In an emergency meeting held by the advisory panel of the National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru, the issue of providing the gallery premises to LKA was discussed.

According to the minutes of the meeting, it was decided to allow the premises to be used for NEA, said Chi Su Krishna Setty, who is a member of the panel.

Setty, who is also the administrator of LKA, said, “The Akademi has not received any official communication regarding the panel’s decision. We have already begun the process of holding the exhibition at the Chennai centre of LKA. However, if we receive the communication in time, we will consider shifting the venue back to Bengaluru.”

The exhibition was supposed to be held from January 15 to February 28.
However, because of the delay in finalising the venue, the exhibition may begin on February 23.

Lack of approval
NEA was supposed to be hosted by the National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru starting from January 15. However, citing lack of approval from the Union Ministry of Culture, NGMA had declined to host the prestigious art show, which will bring together 111 of the countries best artists.
