JOIN USThe Shiv Sena has received Rs 86.84 crore in donation in the last fiscal, nearly 80% of the Rs 107.62 crore collected by all regional outfits, a report said on Wednesday.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with Rs 6.6 crore came a distant second in the list that focuses on donations above Rs 20,000. Surprisingly, the AIADMK claimed that it has not received a single donation above Rs 20,000.
Besides the AIADMK, according to the report by Association for Democratic Rights, the BJD, JMM, NPF and the RLD said they did not receive a single donation above Rs 20,000 in the last fiscal.
As per rules, parties need to identify donors only if donation is above Rs 20,000.
The report said the Shiv Sena’s donations are more than four times the total amount declared by 15 other regional parties during 2015-16.
Of the 47 regional parties registered with the Election Commission, only 21 have provided donation details.
