Drive against illegal hoardings

Mayor G Padmavathi on Monday launched a drive against illegal hoardings and billboards across the city.

The drive started at Sony Junction in Koramangala. Later, the mayor visited areas under west zone, east zone, Yeshwantpur Metro station and other places for monitoring the drive.

The Palike has been cracking down on illegal hoardings following the directions of the High Court of Karnataka.

At the end of the day, 755 hoardings and 782 banners were removed from various parts of the city. According to the BBMP, there are 2,439 illegal hoardings in the city.

The mayor also launched a midday meal programme for pourakarmikas in Bommanahalli zone. The Palike has been implementing the programme in a phased manner across all wards.
