Muslim Board seeks review of policy toward Israel

“India’s close ties with Israel, whose anti-Muslim attitude is well known, is a matter of serious concern....the ties should not be at the cost of friendship with the Arab nations”, Board spokesman A R Qureshi told reporters after a three-day annual general meeting of the Board members.

“India is getting closer to Israel...it is procuring arms from it,” he said claiming that Israel had been given access to our border areas as well. He said that the Board favoured the policy vis-a-vis Israel which was there during the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s regime.

Qureshi expressed serious concern at “fake encounters” and the arrest of Muslim youths on terror charges. “Innocent Muslim youths are arrested and sent to jail without any charges being framed against them for years...it has been seen that such youths are acquitted by the courts,” he said.
