JOIN US B R Balakrishnan, Director General of Investigation (Karnataka and Goa), Bengaluru, has been selected for the Special Category National Awards for 2016 at the National Voters Day held in Delhi on Wednesday.
Election Commission of India conferred the special award for expenditure monitoring on him. He was serving then as principal director, Income Tax, Tamil Nadu. Balakrishnan had taken up successful measures for expenditure monitoring through surveillance, searches, and cash seizure. He is from the 1983 batch of Indian Revenue Service.
He joined as the Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Bengaluru in September 2016. Prior to that he has worked in the investigation wing of the department in Chennai and in Mumbai as principal director of I-T.
Balakrishnan has also worked as Director of Intelligence and criminal investigation.
