Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, on Saturday, underscored the challenges faced by politicians and said politics had reached a stage where people like him may have to rethink their continuation in it.

He was speaking at a felicitation ceremony for Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, where a souvenir ‘Sada Smitha’ (on Sadananda Gowda) was released.

Hailing Sadananda Gowda, Deve Gowda said, “Multiple challenges in his life never took away his smile. May he achieve many more milestones in politics.”

Speaking on the occasion, senior Congress leader S M Krishna said, “People in politics must have simplicity. Those who lack this basic quality may not survive in politics. Sadananda Gowda has all the qualities of a good politician.”

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said, “Upright politicians are the need of the hour.”

In his address, Sadananda Gowda gave credit to his party and Yeddyurappa for his growth in politics.

“Yeddyurappa was the reason for my success in politics. It was he who made me the state party president and chief minister,” said Sadananda Gowda.

Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade said Sadananda Gowda had inborn leadership qualities.
