Rs 15,000 cash reward for Good Samaritan cop

Home Minister G Parameshwara has honoured K Narayan, an assistant sub-inspector, with a cash prize of Rs 15,000 for helping a woman stranded in JC Nagar on January 26. “K Narayan stood apart by his act. He is a role model for other ground staff in the police department. His act has enhanced the reputation of the Bengaluru police,” Parameshwara said after presenting the cheque.

Responding to the honour, Narayan said, “It’s a great moment for me to receive the honour from the home minister. I didn’t do anything great, but only discharged my duties sincerely. ”

Narayan, attached to the KG Halli traffic police station, gave his scooter to the woman who had run out of fuel on a poorly lit road in JC Nagar and pushed her vehicle till Mehkri Circle. He then waited with the woman for her husband to arrive. Later, the woman, Nirmala Rajesh, posted her pleasant experience on Facebook along with a picture of Narayan. The post went viral and drew the attention of senior police officials.
