'Makkala Mane: unique initiative to save govt schools'

Convener of Suvarna Vidya Chetana organisation P C Malleshaiah said that Makkala Mane centres have been opened to empower government schools. He was speaking at the annual day celebrations of the Government Girls’ Higher Primary School and Makkala Mane in the town recently. With the rise in fascination towards private schools, there is no demand for government schools and the number of students is steadily decreasing. Officials who are in top posts have also studied in government schools, she said. Gram panchayat member H R Ranganath commended the decision to start Makkala Mane centres to save government schools. The state government should open Makkala Mane centres in all government schools, he urged. He also pledged support to the centre opened in the Huliyar school.

Members of the school development and monitoring committee, Head teacher of MPS School Shankarappa and others were present.
