Kat on the road to recovery

Stressed out: Katrina Kaif

Pretty actress Katrina Kaif, who is also known as ‘Bollywood’s lucky mascot’, collapsed on the sets of Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan last week while shooting on location at Malshej Ghat. The entire crew was panic struck. The lead actor of the film — Akshay Kumar, came to everyone’s rescue and flew in a doctor from a hospital in Mumbai in his private chopper since the medical facilities in Malshej were below par.

The doctor quoted over exertion, lack of sleep and her constant low blood pressure as the cause of the collapse. Reveals a source on the sets, “Katrina has been shooting non stop for her films, commercials and the constant travel is taking a toll on her health. Katrina’s plate is so full this year that she hasn’t had enough time to recuperate. After getting her hair and make-up done she arrived on the sets and the next thing you know, she just fainted.”

In fact, a few hours post her check up, Katrina sprung back into action and continued to shoot for an important scene, in spite of director Farah Khan advising her to take the day off. “Katrina didn’t want to inconvenience the cast and crew and decided to continue shooting. There have been several cases where she has kept to her professional commitments in spite of being ill — but that’s Katrina Kaif for you,” adds the source
Katrina’s spokesperson confirmed, “Katrina was unwell. She has been advised some rest. Of late, she has been going through tremendous work stress travelling in and out of Mumbai.”

Big catch

After the tremendous success of Ghajini, AR Murugadoss is all set for his latest project with one of the biggest production houses in the South. The project will star Shruti Haasan and Suriya.

Shruti has been creating waves not only in Bollywood but also in the South. She had composed the music for Unnaipol Oruvan, which garnered her a lot of appreciation and is currently working on a Telugu movie.

With this new venture, this pretty damsel will be marking her debut in Tamil cinema. Sources reveal that the music composer for the film is Harris Jayaraj and the cinematographer is Ravi K Chandran. Udhayanidhi Stalin will be producing this flick.

Suriya, who will soon be making his debut in Bollywood, had worked with Murugadoss on Ghajini, which was a humongous success. Many anticipate the team to deliver another smashing hit on the lines of their previous endeavour. The work on this much-awaited film will start this April.

Indian sculpts King of Pop in stone

Immortal: Michael JacksonA Chennai-based granite exporter has decided to pay a colossal tribute to the King of Pop — Michael Jackson. The managing director of RC Golden Granites, R Chandrashekaran, is ready with a 12 feet statue of Jackson weighing 3.5 tonnes, sculpted out of a single black granite stone.

The statue may find a place in Jackson’s estate in California, if his family accepts Chandrasekaran’s offer. “Six craftsmen worked round the clock for 45 days to finish the statue at our workshop in Kancheepuram,” said Chandrashekaran.
