Watching Mishra helped me: Chahal

Watching Mishra helped me: Chahal

India’s Yuzvendra Chahal, who produced a devastating second spell of 2-0-6-5 for a match haul of 4-0-25-6, said he planned his final act after watching senior pro Amit Mishra.

“Even when England were bowling there was turn and bounce,” said leg-spinner Chahal at the post match press conference on Wednesday. “Initially I wanted to bowl a little full. Mishy bhai (Mishra) varied his pace pretty well. He was getting a lot of turn and I started to feel confident that there is something in the wicket. I planned my second spell after watching Mishy bhai bowl.”

Chahal, a key personnel for the local IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, said he gets a special vibe whenever he check into the Garden City. “It’s like a home ground match for me. I’ve not played too many series for India. Whenever I come to Bangalore, I get a vibe. I feel at home here. I’ve spent three seasons with RCB now. You may go for runs here because its a small ground but at the same time you have more scope of getting wickets. My plan was even if I go for 40 runs, try taking three wickets.”

English skipper Eoin Morgan, meanwhile, said he’s extremely saddened with the way his side collapsed within a blink of an eye. “Can’t explain the batting collapse. It’s the worst batting performance in two and a half years. We were going quite well in this game. Majority of runs is usually scored in last 10 overs. RCB have been doing it, India did that today. I think we needed 110 of last 10 with 8 wickets in the shed. With the benefit of hindsight, either (Joe) Root or I should have got 70-80. That would have made a huge difference.”
