The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday raided the house of a traffic police head constable for possessing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The ACB team led by SP Anita Haddannavar conducted a raid on the palatial two-storey house of Kanakareddy Yadav at Agriculture Colony, behind New Raghavendra Colony. The house constructed on 40X60 feet site is valued at around Rs 1 crore. It has luxurious interiors and household items worth several lakhs.

ACB DySP Santhosh Bannatti told DH: “The raid yielded Rs 11.3 lakh in cash, 250 grams of gold, 2.5 kg of silver, documents related to a 30X40 feet site in the city, one SUV and three bikes.” The SUV is registered in somebody else’s name. Four tippers have also been found but documents are being verified to ascertain their ownership, he added. Kanakareddy is attached to the Main (Super Market) Traffic police station here. He joined the service as a constable in 1997 and was promoted to head constable six months ago.
