Happy but still feel traumatised, says Jyothi

Expressing happiness over the arrest of her suspected assailant Madhukar Reddy, Corporation Bank staffer Jyothi Uday said she felt traumatised even three years after the incident that shook Bengaluru.

Jyothi, a manager in the service branch of Corporation Bank on Mission Road, remained incommunicado throughout Saturday but came on record only late in the night. Talking to journalists, she said no one should undergo the trauma she had undergone. She extended her gratitude to police for having arrested Reddy and said such people must be punished severely.

No communication
Her husband, C Uday Kumar, said they had not yet received communication from police about Reddy’s arrest. “I got to know about it through the media. It’s a good development,” he said. “The incident still haunts us.”

He urged women not to enter ATMs if there were no guards. Kumar was travelling to Mysuru by train when a policeman called him up and shared the information.
