Govt to fill all police vacancies

Home Minister G Parameshwara said the state government has accorded priority to fill up all vacant posts in police department.

“About 25,000 posts were vacant in the department two years ago and the government has filled about 21,000 posts. The government is recruiting about 1,500 sub-inspectors,” he said.

He was speaking after inaugurating Puttenahalli, Konanakunte and Bagalur police stations in the city that were commissioned recently and the newly constructed police quarters at Bidadi in Ramanagaram district on Saturday.

“About Rs 1,815 crore was released for Police Gruha project to provide housing facilities. The government aims to build about 11,000 houses in the next two years for policemen. The government has added 1,000 vehicles to the police department in the last two years.

We have taken these measures to provide more comfort to the police personnel and bring down the crime rate,” he said. Parameshwara said the government has created a congenial atmosphere at police stations for complainants. The police should be people-friendly, while the public should cooperate with the police in sharing information. “Cooperation from the public is very crucial for detection and prevention of crime.”
