Amit Shah hardsells OROP

Last Updated 07 February 2017, 19:16 IST

BJP president Amit Shah sought to hardsell one-rank, one-pension (OROP) and steps to curb use of black money in politics as achievements of the Modi government and launched a broadside against Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing a rally at the packed Ramlila Ground here, Shah mocked the Congress vice president. “Rahul baba” is saying his “vacations in Italy” have made him “ignorant” about the achievements of the Modi government, Shah said.

“Neither your grandmother’s government, nor your father’s government paid any heed to the demands of ex-servicemen. Sonia-Manmohan government also ignored their demands. Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented OROP within a year of coming to office,” Shah said.

Ex-servicemen form a significant part of the electorate in Uttarakhand and their support would be crucial for the BJP to emerge victorious.
