It came out my way today, says Vijay

Centurion Murali Vijay said he’s feeling confident about his game and just wishes to keep carrying on doing the hard work.

“To be honest I was feeling good about my game coming into the series. Hopefully I can carry that forward,” said Vijay, who scored 108 on Thursday, at the end of the day. “To be honest I just saw the new ball for four-five overs, read the wicket and thought that I can play my shots. It came out my way today.”

Vijay also lavished praise on skipper Virat Kohli, who blasted an unbeaten 141-ball 111 to ensure India took stumps in complete command.

“It’s always a great sight to see Virat play, especially the way he is playing at the moment. He has taken his game to a different level. End of the day you can see we are 354 (India scored 356/3) and I thought 340 would be great. The 10-20 runs extra just happened because of him. The way he was striking the ball was fantastic. Hope he can continue like this tomorrow.”

‘Should’ve bowled better’

Young Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who dismissed K L Rahul off the fifth ball of the innings and bowled a brilliant first spell, felt his side should have bowled better in the second half of the day.

“Actually in these kinds of wickets, bowlers have to be patient. You can’t bowl loose deliveries and bowlers have to be patient. For me this (playing Test cricket) is a new experience. When it doesn’t swing then you have to try to reverse swing, I tried to reverse swing, but they are the number one team and they handled it well, this is a completely new experience.”
