Last Updated 10 February 2017, 18:06 IST

City Municipal Council (CMC) members, MLAs C T Ravi, D N Jeevaraj and MLC M K Pranesh, met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Friday and requested him to take measures to fill around 245 vacant posts in the CMC.

The delegation submitted a memorandum to the chief minister in this regard.
Posts in various departments in the CMC are lying vacant. As a result, the public services are affected. The facilities of government are not reaching the eligible beneficiaries. The staff crunch has been a major hurdle for smooth administration. The main sources of income, such as trade licence, property tax, water tax and other taxes are not collected effectively, CMC president Kavita Shekhar said.

Also, various programmes of the government are not implemented due to lack of shortage in Namma Shakhe, SJSRY and other departments. She urged the chief minister to take steps to appoint staff to the vacant posts.

Request for special grants

Grants are being sanctioned to Chikkamagaluru through various projects. But the development works of the new layouts cannot be carried out with the available grants, therefore, special grants should be provided, the delegation requested the chief minister.

District BJP committee general secretary H D Tammaiah, spokesperson Varasiddhi Venugopal and CMC vice president Ravindra Prabhu were present.
