Public Works Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa said, Ambedkarism is not just Dalitism, but nationalism.

After inaugurating the two-day campaign ‘Ambedkar Jnana Darshana’ launched as part of the 125th Ambedkar Jayanti, organised by the Social Welfare department, in association with UoM Dr B R Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre, at Rani Bahadur auditorium, here, on Monday, he said, Ambedkar was for inclusive growth, so restricting him to one particular community is not proper. “Ambedkar’s principles can be applied to all communities, so steps should be taken to reach him to all sections of the society. He advocated the overall development of the nation, so it is nationalism,” he said.

“The Indian Constitution, the major work of Ambedkar, is unparalleled in the world. No nation has such a complete and comprehensive constitution. It is based on humanism and has solution to all social problems, ailing India. The Constitution also has solutions for all economic problems,” Dr Mahadevappa said.

“Grama Sabhas have 50% women and hence, the fora can be used to propagate the social principles propounded by Ambedkar. If Ambedkar’s principles are reached to the women and backward classes of the rural India, the nation will prosper. Debates should be initiated among the oppressed people about Ambedkar and his principles to popularise Ambedkarism,” he said.

Dr Mahadevappa said, of late, communal forces have become active in India and they are triggering the nation towards destruction.

“The vested interests are trying to weaken the strong Constitution. So, our responsibility is to protect the sanctity of the Constitution and safeguard the nation,” he said.
