Kadur and Birur, ravaged by severe dro-ughts, have been sanctioned the Bhadra drinking water project, but, the work on the supply of drinking water under the project has not started in 32 villages.

The people of Kadur and Birur have been dependent on the Bhadra reservoir in Lakkavalli for their supply of drinking water. Although the Bhadra project was completed a year ago, there is an acute shortage for drinking water, following the drought.

HDFC pipes have been laid from Maravanji Road till the Shani temple. The pipeline was to be laid till BGS School. In order to provide water to the four layouts that are one km away from the Town Municipal Council, the pipeline has also been laid till Chikkoddu canal.

This pipeline can provide water to Malleshwar and Maccheri.

MLA Y S V Datta, who inaugurated the drinking water unit at Malleshwar had directed the Malleshwar Gram Panchayat to identify a land for the construction of water tank. But, there is a greater need to supply water to overhead tanks. This will provide drinking water to 5,000 people.
