The police on Wednesday recorded the statement of Dasanapura APMC president Kadabagere Srinivas, who was shot at by two bike-borne men near Kogilu Cross, off Yelahanka on February 3.

Later, in a statement to media from the hospital where he is being treated for bullet injuries, Srinivas said Yelahanka MLA S R Vishwanath (BJP) was responsible for the attack. His associates recorded his statement on a mobile phone and later shared it with the media. In the statement to the media, Srinivas said that Vishwanath had orchestrated the attack on him through the associates of Satish alias Don Satish and Babu alias Boon Babu. Srinivas said that he has mentioned about the MLA and his associates in his complaint to the police.

“I have informed my advocates about the names mentioned in the police complaint. On the day of the attack, I was coming from Raitha Santhe when the accused attacked me first with the rods and later opened fire at me. Initially, I was not sure why would any one attack me. Later, I realised that it was planned and executed by the MLA and his associates,” Srinivas has said in the statement.

Hemant Nimbalkar, Additional Commissioner of Police (East) told DH that Srinivas has given a statement before the magistrate.

However, the officer declined to comment on the allegations Srinivas has made against the two-time MLA. Srinivas, it is said, was earlier a close aide of Vishwanath. However, he reportedly fell out with the BJP legislator and joined the Congress.

The assailants had shadowed Srinivas for at least four days before firing at him from a country-made pistol suspected to have been sourced from Bihar or Uttar Pradesh, the police said.
