Woman trying to smuggle gold in rectum among four held at KIA

Customs and Air Intelligence officials in a joint operation on Thursday and Friday arrested four persons in three separate incidents for illegally transporting gold and recovered gold bars.

A woman, who had concealed small gold sticks worth Rs 12.84 lakh in her rectum, has been arrested. The suspect landed at the KIA by Thai Airlines’ GT 325 flight. As she passed through the metal detector, the presence of gold was detected.

The sleuths searched her baggage, but they did not find anything.  Women staff took her into a room and thoroughly checked and recovered small gold sticks from her rectum. The suspects had prepared small gold sticks to be concealed in the rectum for illegal transportation.  She had even cheated customs at the Bangkok International Airport and had boarded the flight, said the sleuths.

Gold hidden in instrument

In another incident, a passenger, who landed from Dubai by Emirates EK 568 flight, was arrested for a similar offence. He was carrying an instrument used to wash cars inside which he had concealed gold bars worth Rs 14 lakh. The police grew suspicious, checked the instrument and recovered the gold bars.

In a separate incident, two passengers from Columbia were carrying a trolley bag in which they had concealed gold bars worth Rs 10.37 lakh. The sleuths found them behaving suspiciously and checked their trolley bags and found the concealed gold bars, added the sleuths.
