Students Union continued their unbeaten run in the BDFA Super Division league with a 2-1 win over Controllerate of Inspection Electronics (CIL) here on Tuesday.

In an ill-tempered affair at the Bangalore Football Stadium, forward Sudhir and midfielder Michael (29th) netted for Students, while a late goal from striker Vignesh in the dying moments gave CIL some consolation.

Students, with 16 points from six games, maintained their position on top of the table while CIL, with five points from as many matches, are sixth.

The game began at a frenetic pace with the Students looking for an early lead.
It arrived in the 9th minute through Sudhir, who put the ball past the CIL goalkeeper Abhishek after connecting a cross from Emmanuel on the right.

Soon after, Vignesh missed a good chance to bring CIL level when his attempt to find the far corner of the net from inside the box went wide.

Students made sure CIL paid for their lapses as they doubled their lead minutes later through Michael, who rose high to head home a superb corner from Kevin.

After a brief midfield battle in the second half, CIL finally got themselves in the scoresheet when Vignesh tapped in a fine cross from substitute Hemanth Kumar from the right.

Jawahar rout Gajanana

Earlier in ‘A’ Division, Jawahar Union powered past Sri Gajanana 5-2.
A hat-trick from Nihal (59th, 74th, 80th), coupled with an effort from Arjun (16th) and an own goal from Susairaj in the 68th minute settled the tie in Jawahar’s favour. For Gajanana, Surya (18th) and Sridhar (64th) netted a goal each.
