Arkavathy Layout allottees, farmers protest

Last Updated 22 February 2017, 19:42 IST

A large number of farmers and site allottees of Arkavathy Layout staged a protest at the BDA head office seeking justice.

The government’s indecision has left the site owners and the farmers in the lurch, they said. Of the 700 sites carved out of the land at Arkavathy Layout, nearly 300 sites have gone ‘missing’ while many pieces of agriculture land have become landlocked without any access to the road, they said.

Kiran J N, a farmers’ leader said BDA had offered alternative sites at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout to those whose sites at Arkavathy Layout were “missing”. Money will be refunded to applicants who reject the offer. “We met BDA Commissioner Rajkumar Khatri and demanded immediate redressal of our grievances. We are not able to use our land. The site owners are not able to construct their houses,” said Kiran. He added that Khatri assured them that the matter will be taken up in the next board meeting and an appropriate decision will be taken that will suit everyone.
