A complaint has been filed with the Lokayukta against former IAS officer B L Sridhar over disproportionate assets.

The complaint stated that the official, who retired in 2013 as Additional Chief Secretary, has floated companies in Bengaluru and abroad to launder money. It said that Sridhar floated companies in the names of his wife and other associates when he was posted in the Mines and Geology Department.

Complainant Shivakumar said that a close look at the substantial monthly remittances in foreign currency made by Sridhar to his children abroad, shows that this was one method of laundering ill-gotten money.

“The remittances routed to more than 10 bank accounts in Bank of America at Tampa reveal this. A statement of bank account details is provided with this complaint,” the complaint stated. The complainant has provided details of the remittance of $1,22,500 to accounts between 2012 to 2015.

The complaint stated that Sridhar floated Karnataka Ores Pvt Ltd for carrying out mining activities in the state when he was in the Mines and Geology Department. Karnataka Ores later changed to Leeds Enterprises Pvt Ltd Ltd in 1997 having its office at Poornaprajna Layout in Uttarahalli. The directors of Leeds are Arcot Ramanathan Sriramulu, Ramkrishna Hemappa Sawkar, Anantharamaiah Gayathri Devi, wife of Sridhar. The complaint stated that Sawkar is also one of the directors in Ramgad Minerals and Mining Ltd, a flagship company of Baldota Group. The complaint added that Leeds Enterprises Inc, another company categorised under pharmacy, is listed as a privately held company at Roosevelt Road, Forest Park at Illinois in the US.

Sridhar headed several departments during his tenure including Mines and Geology, Agriculture, Co-operation, Consumer Affairs, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Industries and Transport. At the time of retirement, he was chairman of the Karnataka Appellate Tribunal (KAT) heading the Revenue bench.
