5,500 more buses for KSRTC

As many as 5,500 buses will be added to the fleet of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation by June, Transport minister Ramalinga Reddy has said.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the credit co-operative society of KSRTC SC/ST employees here on Monday, the minister said that the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation would get 3,000 more buses next year. “About 40% buses are running on loss and 40% do not make any profit. Only 20% of buses are bringing profit,” the minister said.

Reddy said state transport corporations suffered losses up to Rs 60 crore due to demonetisation, bandhs and 12.5% increase in salary of employees.
