Sahara told to deposit Rs 5K cr by April 13

The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Sahara group head Subrata Roy to deposit Rs 5,092 crore in the Sahara-Sebi refund account by April 13 by selling its unencumbered properties.

A three-judge bench presided over by Justice Dipak Misra said the extension of parole granted to Roy and two other directors would be considered only if the amount was deposited by the stipulated date.

The bench, also comprising Justices A K Sikri and A M Khanwilkar, rejected a plea by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, seeking six months for selling the properties and depositing the amount. The matter was put for further consideration on April 17.
