Herbalife partners with Syngene

Global nutrition company Herbalife on Thursday announced the launch of its first Nutrition Research and Development Lab in India in partnership with contract research and manufacturing firm Syngene.

Herbalife India currently manufactures its complete range of inner nutrition products through third-party contract manufacturers at Baddi and Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh.

Herbalife International India Vice President and Country Head Ajay Khanna said, “With two manufacturing facilities at HP and research and development with Syngene, bringing the products to India will become much faster. This is the fourth country out of the 90 countries we operate to have its own R&D.”

“Currently, we are catering to Indian needs related to obesity, anti-ageing, brain health and child nutrition among others. The tie-up is such that we will be doing research, clinical trials and innovation specific to the Indian market,” he added.

Herbalife India currently has 266 employees and 3.5 lakh associate distributors for direct selling. It has over 80 pick-up locations across India.

The facility houses a separate Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) formulation lab to support product testing, sampling and end-product development.
