Protest against Indiranagar commercialisation

Hundreds of residents of Indiranagar on Saturday took out a candlelight protest rally against the commercialisation of residential areas.

The protest was organised by HAL 2nd stage Civic Amenities and Cultural Association and was supported by Indiranagar 1st Stage League, 2nd Stage League, Defence Colony, HAL 2nd Stage and 3rd Stage Residents’ Welfare Association. These associations are working closely with Namma Bengaluru Foundation to prevent growing commercialisation of residential areas across the city. Around 150 residents participated in the rally. “Loud music from illegal pubs are not allowing us to sleep.

There are drunken brawls outside pubs and constant honking and screaming on the roads after the pub shuts down,” said Sultan Singh, a resident.
