The road to fitness

Focussed actor
Last Updated 12 March 2017, 18:52 IST
There seemed to be more people in the lobby and in the aisle of the hotel than at the press conference which was addressed by actor Hrithik Roshan during the weekend.

The actor’s fans had come in large numbers to take a picture with him or to get an autograph. Clad in a T-shirt, denims, grey jacket and a matching grey skull cap, Hrithik was in the city to launch the ‘HRX Workout’ along with Mukesh Bansal, co-founder of Curefit.

The press meet was a short one with the actor answering only a limited number of questions. He didn’t seem comfortable answering anything else except those related to the event and his fitness regime. The actor said that his disciplined workout regime has helped him overcome challenges, injuries and to stay fit.

He informed that the workouts in HRX workout have been created by his trainer Mustafa Ahmed along with the fitness team at Cult. He added that workouts have three categories – ‘The First Step’, ‘The Zone’ and ‘What’s Your Edge’. They are designed in a way to cater to people of all ages and interests.

“Our endeavour is to inspire people of all ages to help them lead a healthy lifestyle. I have always been asked about my fitness regime. I felt now is the time to create workouts taking into account all my learning over the years.”

He answered a volley of questions about fitness. He said that among the many options available in ‘HRX Workout’ was one where people could burn 300 calories in 15 minutes.

“We provide you with a combination of exercises that can help you achieve your target. It is a combination of exercises that will effectively burn calories rather than
have you stick to only a particular form of exercise,” he said.

When asked about his personal diet and exercise plan, he said, “I have recently discovered the benefits of intermittent fasting. I went on a 10-day intermittent fast and realised how the body reacts to less food. It is natural to be afraid of getting hungry but it is only after I went through it that I understood that the body copes well and returns to the normal state pretty fast,” he said.

“Now I am not afraid of going without food for a couple of hours. I realised that this particular fast cleanses and rejuvenates your digestive track. I felt good after I completed the fast,” he added.
