Last Updated 12 March 2017, 19:15 IST

The city police on Saturday arrested three persons for assaulting and threatening a woman and her son over construction of a house at Ramamurthynagar.

The suspects are Devasya (45), John (32) and Babu (29), all residents of TC Palya in KR Puram.

According to police, the trio barged into Raju’s house, who is Devasya’s neighbour, and assaulted him and his mother, Lakshmi Bai.

During the construction of his house, Devasya had not left three feet open space around his house, as per the norms. When Raju brought the matter to his notice, Devasya ignored him. Raju complained to the BBMP authorities regarding the violation. An riked Devasya and his aides assaulted Raju and his mother.

When Raju approached Ramamurthynagar police, the police reportedly refused to entertain his complaint and instead, told him that it was Devasya who had lodged a complaint against him.

A few residents had recorded the attack on Raju and his mother on their mobile phones. As soon as the news channels began beaming the footage of the attack, the police arrested the trio.

Expressing concern over her son’s safety, Lakshmi Bai said: “I am ill and totally dependent on my only son. Devasya and his aides follow my son and keep threatening him. Who will protect my son?”

“A close associate of an MLA tried to mediate and advised me to keep away from Devasya,” Raju added.
