Photographer held for assault on elderly couple

A photographer was arrested for assaulting and robbing an elderly couple at their house in Banashankari II Stage.

The arrested is Niranjan, owner of a photo studio at Hesaraghatta. Police have recovered Rs 25,000 in cash and a watch from him.

On February 9, Niranjan went to Dr Satya’s house and asked him to come out as he wanted to discuss personal issues. As Dr Satya was about to step out, Niranjan pushed him inside and locked the door. On noticing Dr Satya falling down, his wife came to his rescue and asked Niranjan to leave the place. He assaulted the couple with a wooden log and fled with Rs 25,000 and a watch.

The couple approached the Banashankari police and lodged a complaint, based on which Niranjan was arrested. It was learnt that from 2003, Niranjan had rented a room and was operating a photo studio in his building at Hesaraghatta. Recently, Dr Satya increased the building’s rent. When he did not agree to Niranjan’s request not to hike it, the latter assaulted the elderly couple. He made away with the cash to make it look like robbery, police said.
