HC seeks clarity from govt on shifting of RGUHS

Last Updated 14 March 2017, 20:17 IST

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday asked the state government to get clarity on the decision to shift Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) from Bengaluru to Ramanagaram district.

Justice A S Bopanna, while hearing a petition challenging the government decision to shift the university, asked the government’s counsel to find out if the government wants to shift RGUHS at one go or retain the Bengaluru campus as an additional one. Petitioners Dr B R Ramakrishna, principal, Sushrutha Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital and others have approached the court seeking directions to recognise RGUHS in Bengaluru as an additional campus.

Petitioners have contended that the government erred in proceeding with printing of invitations for the inauguration and the commencement of the university at Ramanagaram, when the matter was still pending before the high court.

The court ordered notice to RGUHS and adjourned the matter to March 21.
