Bollywood director Vikram Bhatt best known for films like "Ghulam" and "1920: Evil Returns", has turned writer with his new book "A Handful of Sunshine".

Published by Penguin Random House India, the book is an "intense romance novel"and will hit stands in April this year.

"Penguin Random House India is thrilled to announce that it will be publishing Vikram Bhatt's debut novel in April 2017.

"Titled, 'A Handful of Sunshine', it is an intense romance novel. This book is sure to let the readers’ pulses racing," the publishers said in a statement.

The story inspired by Bhatt's personal experiences, and talks about the choices one makes when love gives a second chance.

"When I think of love, I think of pain and not joy. I know that is not the way it's supposed to be but it has been that way for me. Love is the most elusive thing I know.

"Always an arm's length away, teasing me and asking me to stretch a bit more and grab it. The more I stretched the more it slipped away. Through those many slips comes my book, 'A Handful of Sunshine'," Bhatt said.

Bhatt is the grandson of filmmaker Vijay Bhatt, one of the pioneers of the Hindi film industry. In a career spanning twenty-five years, he has directed more than 35 films and written screenplays of more than 15 films.

"It is indeed a pleasure to be working with Vikram. His writing is extremely visual and arresting and forms an immediate connect with the reader," Vaishali Mathur, Executive Editor and Head Rights and Language Publishing, said.
