Firebrand Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan has supported resolution of the Ayodhya dispute through talks and asked the religious leaders from both the communities to take the lead.
“The religious leaders can play a role in resolving the dispute through talks...they should initiate efforts to start negotiations”, Khan said on Tuesday.
He said that the supreme court’s suggestion in this regard was a welcome move.
Khan said that the SP would always cooperate in whatever way it could in reaching an amicable settlement to the dispute.
“We are for a negotiated settlement”, he added.
