The Karnataka High Court on Monday disposed of a PIL seeking directions to prohibit the telecast of the show ‘Fateh Ka Fatwa’, a show hosted by a Pakistan-born Canadian writer Tarek Fateh on Zee News.

Petitioners Nazeer Ahmed and others have moved the court contending that Tarek, in his show, makes direct charges against Islam religion, beliefs and thoughts and contended that the show is an abuse and misuse of freedom of speech and expression of media. They have sought directions to delete the recorded videos of the show from YouTube and stay the telecast of the show.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice P S Dinesh Kumar, directed the petitioners to make a representation to the secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and directed the ministry to consider the representation in eight weeks.
