Woman files dowry complaint

A 24-year-old woman has lodged a police complaint against her husband and in-laws claiming that she is being harassed for dowry. According to the police, the victim married Mahesh, a software engineer, in May 2016. They were residing at Mahaganapathi Nagar in Basaveshwaranagar, west Bengaluru.

A couple of weeks ago, she lodged a complaint stating she was being harrased by her husband and in-laws to get dowry from her parent’s house failing which she cannot stay in the house. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she continues to stay in their house.

In the complaint, she also claimed that her husband was not fulfilling her basic needs and he did not have any kind of physical contact with her sincethey got married. He was also planning to get married to another woman. Her husband and in-laws are constantly threatening her to go back to her house, the police said. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered and Mahesh and his parents are being questioned.
