Bypolls: Siddaramaiah to hit campaign trail today

CM, joined by Mahadevappa, to tour villages in N'gud, Gundlupet

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is all set to begin campaigning for the Congress candidates from Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly constituencies from today. He is expected to tour both the taluks till the last day of campaigning, party sources said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to tour more than 100 villages in Nanjangud and Gundlupet constituencies. Canvassing will begin at 9 am and continue till evening. Siddaramaiah will tour both the constituencies, along with Public Works Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa and MP R Dhruvanarayan. They have planned the campaign meticulously so that almost all villages are covered. While Siddaramaiah begins his campaign from one end, the ministers plan their canvassing from the other end.

JD(S) workers bat for Cong
As the JD(S) has not fielded any candidate in both the constituencies, Congress has been successful in taking local JD(S) representatives into its confidence. They have been canvassing for Congress candidate Kalale Keshavamurthy in Nanjangud. On Thursday, MP R Dhruvanarayan and Congress candidate Keshavamurthy, accompanied by hundreds of supporters conducted  door-to-door campaigning in Nanjangud.

BSY to resume canvassing
With high stakes involved in the bypolls, both Congress and BJP are going all out to woo the voters.  BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa is also expected to resume his campaigning for party candidates from Friday. Opposition Leader in the Legislative Council K S Eshwarappa will accompany him and stay in the constituencies till the end of the campaign. BJP leaders Suresh Kumar, V Somanna, Shobha Karandlaje, Sriramulu, Katta Subramanya Naidu and others will also campaign here. Former ministers R Ashoka, S A Ramdas and other BJP leaders also took out a door-to-door campaign in Nanjangud.
