Madikeri CMC presents Rs 462.57 lakh surplus budget

Rs 580 lakh earmarked for construction of new pvt bus stand, market

The CMC is expecting an income of Rs 5664.77 lakh from various sources and the expenditure will be Rs 5202.20 lakh, resulting in a surplus of Rs 462.57 lakh.

The budget was presented by CMC President P D Ponnappa who assured the CMC that discussion on the budget will be held on March 30 at 11.30 am.

The CMC is expecting an income of Rs 52.53 lakh from CMC property including commercial complexes, fines and other sources. This includes fees, development fee, betterment fee and fine of Rs 19.60 lakh, Rs 8.20 lakh from building licenses, Rs 47.90 lakh from water bills, Rs 16.90 lakh from rent collected from Municipal markets, shandy, auctioning etc.

From property tax, the CMC is expecting Rs 166.65 lakh income in the form of property tax, fine, fee for khata change and other certificates. The CMC is also expecting Rs 300 lakh under SFC grant, Rs 150 lakh from SFC special grant, Rs 84 lakh under Kodagu Special package, Rs 0.05 lakh from Sakshara Cauvery collection.

Expenditure

In 2010-11, the CMC is planning to spend Rs 300 lakh for the construction of private bus stand, Rs 280 lakh for the construction of market, Rs 15 lakh for the construction of toilets on Gowlibeedi, Rs 30 lakh for the CMC building, Rs 1.5 lakh for the repair of CMC quarters. The total expenditure will be Rs 625.50 lakh.

Under Kodagu special package for the construction of road and footpath, Rs 50 lakh will be utilised. A sum of Rs 293 lakh will be utilised under Chief Minister’s Small and Medium Town Development Project for various development projects which are under progress.
A sum of Rs 977 lakh will be utilised for the construction of road and footpath under Chief Minister’s Small and Medium Town Development Project for various development projects. Under SFC Special package, Rs 75 lakh will be used for drainage and Rs 75 lakh for laying interlocks. A sum of Rs 48 lakh will be used for water supply under Chief Minister’s Small and Medium Town Development Project for various development projects, Rs 27 lakh for equipment, Rs 188 lakh for Kundamestri project. From CMC funds, Rs 20 lakh will be utilised for the underground drainage, Rs 40 lakh for the development of parks, Rs 12 lakh for streetlights, Ponnappa said.
