Last Updated 09 April 2017, 20:15 IST

A group of citizen activists under the banner ‘Bengaluru Water Warriors’ (BWW) distributed around 1,000 bookmarks on water conservation to morning walkers at Cubbon Park on Sunday.

The volunteers also encouraged people to take part in the ‘Bengaluru Water Warriors Challenge’ at an awareness campaign in the city. Their aim is to inspire citizens to adopt simple water conservation measures such as fixing of leaking pipes and water tap aerators, carrying own water bottles, reuse of RO purifier runoff water among others as part of the BWW challenge.

They were asked to get tagged to the BWW page on Facebook and at the same time tag five more people asking them to complete the challenge by following the rules and completing the circle.

One of the BWW volunteers and BPAC Civic Leadership Incubator Program (B.CLIP) leader Meenakshi Ravikrishna said, “The response from the public and walkers has been positive so far and we have reached out to more than 1,000 people at Cubbon Park.”

‘Save birds’ campaign

In the wake of death of birds due to water scarcity on the park premises, tje members of Cubbon Park Walkers’ Association (CPWA) flagged off the ‘Save  birds’ campaign. Volunteers and CPWA members placed about 20 water bowls in and around Cubbon Park.
