Go on a boat house sojourn in Udupi

Boat house, an avenue for nature lovers at Kodibengre and Kemmannu, started its journey here recently to provide totally a new exotic experience.

Sujatha Kamath, the brain behind the venture, told DH that this is the first boat house pressed into the service. Boat houses have a huge demand in Kerala.

‘Affordable’

“This is the first time the concept of boat house has been introduced in Karnataka. The cost is affordable and it provides maximum comfort,” she added.

The boat travels amid panoramic landscapes and is a feast to vacationers. The backwaters and sea waves will turn out to be a paradise, especially during sunset, she said.

According to Kamath, the boat house provides delicacies, including non-vegetarian food. Welcome drink and south Indian delicacies are also included, she added. The cruise voyage is divided into morning, evening and night. Each cruise can accommodate 35 to 40 people.

The boat house contains all necessary facilities like bedrooms, kitchen and toilets. Birthday parties, meetings and workshops can be held in the boat house. The boat house will make a small voyage of 10 km and people who aspire to spend nights are also permitted with sufficient lighting facilities.

Pricing

Kamath said four hours in cruise costs Rs 6,000 and the food will be charged separately and Rs 250 would be charged per head.

She said that the night stay also costs Rs 6,000 and additional Rs 1,000 for food. The timings will be 11 am to 4 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm. Necessary taxes will be paid to the local bodies, if need arises, Kamath added.
