A lone head constable's timely intervention not only ended a quarrel arising out of road rage, but also earned him the appreciation of the city police commissioner.

The incident occurred on Monday, when a resident of Koramangala, Srinivasa Reddy, booked a Uber cab from Koramangala to his workplace on Outer Ring Road.

At Bellandur junction, the cab slightly brushed against a car that was coming from the opposite side. There were about five occupants in that car who got down and started beating up the Uber driver. “Since there were five people, I too was not able to stop them though my driver was bleeding,” wrote Reddy in his Facebook post.

“Just then, a police constable jumped in and faced all the local goons. He was able to put one of the goons into the same Uber cab and took him to the police station. Really appreciate the way the constable handled the situation. This is Arif Pasha, head constable from Bellandur police station,” Reddy wrote in his post.

City police commissioner and the Bengaluru city police was tagged with the post that went viral prompting police commissioner Praveen Sood to tweet appreciation for Arif Pasha.

Reacting to the incident, a senior police officer of Bellandur police station said that Arif Pasha had just done his duty like any other officer. We are grateful that people are recognising and appreciating our work and this will motivate us to do more good work, he said.
