30,000 cops deployed for polls

The City police have made massive security arrangements by deploying 30,000 policemen and officers, said the City Police Commissioner Shankar M Bidari.

As many as 400 locations have been identified as sensitive and hyper sensitive areas and at these places pickets will be posted. There will be one mobile police patrolling van for every 10 polling stations. Each one of the 101 police stations will be provided with an Armed Police Platoon either from the KSRP or from the City Armed Reserve. These platoons will be used as a striking force. They will work under the direction and control of the police inspectors, he added.

The services of 6,500 homeguards will be taken, while about 600 head constables and 2800 police constables serving outside the Commissionerate of Police, Bangalore City, will also be pressed into security duty. In addition, there will be a reserve of 10 KSRP platoons in the City. In all, 75 platoons of KSRP will be deployed, he added.
