Now, Kempegowda Jayanthi on June 27

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar on Thursday said Kempegowda Jayanthi will be observed on June 27 and not April 17 as announced by him earlier.

Addressing a press conference at Adichunchangiri Mutt, he said, “All the preparations were made to celebrate it the next week.

But Nirmalananda Swamy, the head of the mutt said that it should be postponed as there was a dispute over its celebration. We did not want to disappoint anyone and hence, this decision was taken. "

The swamy said it will be celebrated on June 27 every year. He added that the new date was announced after experts and researchers gave consent over the birth date of Kempegowda.
