Naxals threaten to blow up Orissa CM's residence

Last Updated 28 March 2010, 16:42 IST

The mail is purportedly sent in the name of People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), the military wing of the Naxals.

The e-mail message threatened to blow up Chief Minister Patnaik’s residence, the state Assembly and Secretariat buildings in Bhubaneswar, the state police headquarters in Cuttack and important places in Puri if the Biju Janta Dal (BJD) government went ahead with its plan to launch Operation Greenhunt against the Maoists in Orissa with the help of Central forces.

“We will launch simultaneous attacks in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack if you allowed Operation Greenhunt against us,” the e-mail warned.
Significantly, the e-mail has acknowledged that the most wanted senior Maoist leader Kishenji has sustained bullet injuries in the ongoing armed battle between the Naxals and security personnel in the neighbouring West Bengal.

“Fitting replies will be given for every bullet Kishenji has taken in his body,” the e-mail said. For the last few days, speculations were rife in the media about possible bullet injuries to Kishenji during clashes with security forces in West Bengal.
Confirming that the e-mail had been received, a senior home department official told Deccan Herald on Sunday that the crime branch of the state police has already begun its investigation into the matter.
