Cyber police removes students' profile from 'escort' site

Cyber police personnel removed the profiles of eight students of a department in the Science stream of the University of Mysore in Manasagangothri following a complaint that their mobile phone numbers had been listed on an obscene website that claimed to provide ‘escort’ services.

The students said that they had received obscene calls and also messages on Tuesday. As the students had brought this to the notice of the university authorities, Registrar R Rajanna directed the department chairperson to lodge a police complaint in this regard.

An official said that investigations are on to find out who listed the students’ phone numbers on the website. “Once the IP address of the accused is found, an FIR would be filed,” he said.
