MLA's son escapes unhurt in dirt track race accident

Ritesh Guttedar, son of Afzalpur MLA Malikayya Guttedar, had a miraculous escape after the car he was driving during the dirt track race, here, overturned.

The accident occurred on Saturday, but was reported late on Monday.

The dirt track had been prepared matching the standards of a national track, with racers from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and other states participating in the event. The incident occurred soon after the race was flagged off at Kavadi in Ammatthi Karmad village in the taluk. Even as the people were watching, the car toppled four to five times before coming to a halt in a nearby agricultural field. Ritesh, who was wearing a helmet at that time, escaped unhurt without any injuries.

Ritesh told DH, “The car had been modified for race and I was speeding to make sure I crossed the finishing line within the stipulated time. However, I lost control over the vehicle on the sand track but fortunately escaped without any scratches. It was the second such incident, after a similar experience at the previous rally held in Kerala.”
