BSF jawan from Gundlupet dies in Tripura

Deputy Commissioner B Ramu, SP Kuldeep Kumar R Jain and Tahsildar K Purandara paid a visit to the family of Border Security Force (BSF) soldier N Puttaswamy (43) who died of a heart ailment in Tripura on Tuesday. The officials offered their condolences and the DC said that he would ensure that the family gets all the benefits that are due to the deceased soldier.

Puttaswamy, hailing from Panjanahalli, Gundlupet taluk, was serving in the 145th batch of BSF. He is survived by his wife Kanthamani and two sons.

According to a family member, Puttaswamy was suffering from a heart problem and had already undergone surgery twice. “He could have taken voluntary retirement if he had stayed in service for another 18 months,” the relative said.

Puttaswamy’s body is being brought to Bengaluru from Kolkata by air. The last rites will be performed in Koodluru with full government honours at 11 am on Wednesday.
