Charge sheet filed in advocate's murder case

Soladevanahalli police have filed a charge sheet into the sensational case where an advocate was shot dead by his lover’s husband.

The woman rushed her grievously injured lover to a hospital, after which she hanged herself to death at a lodge nearby. The incident had occurred a day before Sankranti on January 13, 2017.

The police have filed the 500-page charge sheet into the murder of Amit Keshavamurthy by Rajesh and his father Gopalakrishna. The suicide of Rajesh’s wife, Shruthi Gowda, was investigated as a separate case.

The statements of 47 witnesses have been recorded in the charge sheet, which said Amit and Shruthi became friends on Facebook and were in touch for over two years. Six months before the murder, Amit’s wife Ranjitha — who came to know of her husband’s affair with Shruthi — called up Rajesh and asked him to rein in his wife.

On December 31, 2016, Amit sent a message to Shruthi, wishing her Happy New Year. When Rajesh questioned her about the message, she lied to him that she was not in touch with him any more and he was only wishing her on New Year.

Rajesh did not believe her and picked a quarrel with Shruthi — a panchayat development officer (PDO), suspecting her fidelity.

On January 8, on the pretext of taking Shruthi’s Swift car for service, Rajesh got it fitted with a GPS device so as to keep track of her movements.

On January 13, Shruthi left home, saying she was going to the Nelamangala panchayat development office and told her husband not to disturb her.

When Rajesh checked the GPS, the car was traced to Hesaraghatta, near Acharya College. Rajesh knew he would catch his wife red-handed. Armed with a loaded pistol, he reached the place along with his father.

They confronted the lovers and Amit was shot at twice, killing him on the spot. Shruthi drove her dead lover to Sapthagiri Hospital, after which she took a room at a lodge, where she hanged herself to death.
