Alva's Pragati: Annual placement drive in June

‘Alva’s Pragati-2017,’ the annual mass placement drive organised by Alva’s Education Foundation (AEF), will be held at the Vidyagiri campus in Moodbidri on June 24 and 25.

Informing the same to media persons on Saturday, AEF managing trustee Vivek M Alva said that the ninth edition of Alva’s Pragati is expected to attract 200 companies and more than 15,000 job aspirants.

Participants from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana along with Karnataka are expected to take part. In 2016, 309 companies and 18,000 students had participated. A total of 1,209 spot offers were given and 5,525 students were shortlisted for various profiles of prestigious companies, he said.

Stating that the main objective of Alva’s Pragati is to facilitate job opportunities throughout India, Vivek Alva said that the target was to especially rural and underprivileged parts of the country. He said that Pragati caters to the employment aspirations of graduates and post-graduates in various streams such as medical, paramedical engineering, commerce and management, basic sciences, nursing, ITI and diploma holders, skilled man power with PUC and SSLC qualifications among others.

No spot registration

Pointing that there is no spot registration for graduates, Alva said that spot registration is allowed for only ITI graduates, SSLC, PU qualified aspirants. With data bank in set up, gathered through Alva’s Pragati online enrolment, the information would be extended throughout the year to cater on and off campus drives. The aspirants would get a wide range of opportunities under one roof. Around 2,500 computers will be used for online examinations and 800 rooms have been set for the placement drive, The filtered applicants based on colour card, avoiding loss of time in processing unqualified candidates. The follow up of selected candidates by the Foundation will ensure their joining by the specified dates, he added.

The entire process of Pragati is digitised this year. An android and iOS-based app has been created to benefit both aspirants and participating companies. This will give real-time information to the candidates on companies participating with the job profile for the specific qualification. The capping of number of companies per participants has been introduced to avoid multiple offers. To understand the corporate expectations and recruitment process, counselling sessions will be organised at various venues in and outside the district two weeks prior to the drive.

Stating that accommodation will be provided to outstation candidates participating in this drive, Vivek Alva said that candidates should bring the following when attending the job fair: 5-10 passport size photos along with updated resumes of the candidate; All marks cards attested (photostat copies only); and online registration number.
