The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan police on Monday arrested five people of a gang that allegedly duped medical aspirants by promising to provide them the question paper of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, conducted on Sunday.

Additional SP Bajrang Singh, who led the operation, said that the arrested men were under the scanner for the last two weeks. However, the question paper they were purportedly selling didn’t match with the one that came in the exam on Sunday. He cleared that its not a matter of question paper leak but duping the aspirants.

"None of the questions given to the aspirants by the accused on Saturday night matched with the questions that appeared in the entrance test. So the paper will not be considered as leaked", Singh, senior official said.

According to the police investigation, some of the students had paid part of the money fixed to get the question paper. ADG ATS Umesh Mishra told media  "Its a matter of fraud attempted with students. Accused had asked for Rs 5 lakh from each student against ten questions to appear in the entrance."

ATS teams in Delhi and Jaipur operated simultaneously to arrest the accused. While the Delhi team arrested Ashok Gupta and Rahul, the Jaipur team detained Vikram Sinha, Vikas Sinha and Bhupendra Sharma.
Cops also questioned 12 students who paid money to the gang.  An FIR has been lodged against the five accused under IPC sections including 420 (cheating), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating) among others.

On Monday ATS team questioned eight other students in connection with the case. However none was arrested. According to the officials at ATS, more arrests are likely and police is hopeful to bust more gangs in the next couple of days.
